Legal Internship Publishing

Important note: The internship program is designed as an educational experience for qualified students and does not constitute an offer or contract of employment. Benefits for Company employees, including, but not limited to, vacation, sick leave, bonuses or health and social plans, are not available to participants in the internship program. Summer internship opportunities will be posted on our website in January/February and are open to aspiring seniors, graduate students and graduates. Please submit a separate cover letter for each internship you are applying for. CVs without cover letters will not be considered. Our Summer Internship Program is a 10-week paid program that runs from early June to mid-August. All interns work Monday to Thursday, for a total of 28 hours per week. Interns will accompany and collaborate with publishing professionals. You`ll also attend meetings and events, and participate in weekly lunches and study programs designed specifically for the practicum class. Participants in the Simon & Schuster Internship Program will have an unparalleled learning experience behind the scenes. Although interns work in specific departments, they are able to explore all aspects of book publishing through speaker presentations, mentoring relationships, and networking opportunities.

Our fall and spring internship programs are 10-week paid programs with flexible start and end dates in their respective seasons. For both, interns work 14 hours (2 days) per week. Throughout the summer, you will also work on a publication project with your fellow interns and have the opportunity to present your findings to senior executives. As an intern at HarperCollins, you`ll learn about the entire publishing process – from the beginning to the end of a book through our Summer Internship Lecture Series. Each week, you will attend a presentation by some of the most accomplished professionals in the industry, and lunch will be provided! Fall Internship: Late July/Early AugustSpring Internship: December – A strong desire to learn more about the publishing industry – Involvement in school activities / jobs related to book publishing – Experience in general administration / office – Passion for books! We encourage all of our interns to make the most of the program and hope they will build lasting relationships with professionals in the publishing industry. There are many networking opportunities, including an icebreaker bowling trip, information meetings, and a presentation at the end of the program that explains in detail “How to Get a Job in Publishing” and offers tips on your resume, cover letter, and interview. We offer three 10-week paid internship programs throughout the year. While these programs focus primarily on publishing, marketing, public relations, design and editorial management, we also offer professional development programs to give our interns a broad understanding of the entire publishing process. These opportunities are open to current students (in their second year or higher), PhD students and graduates and will be published on our website according to the following schedule: We visit colleges and universities throughout the calendar year. Each year, there will be three 10-week programs to represent the summer, fall and spring sessions. The summer session will last 35 hours per week and the fall and spring sessions will consist of at least 16 to 20 hours per week depending on the academic schedules of the trainees. Interns are placed in specific brands or departments on the adult or child side of the company, depending on Simon & Schuster`s interest, experience, academic courses, and business needs. Previously, responsibilities were usually in the editorial, marketing and advertising departments.
