The law of obedience is not a compulsion. It is a lighthouse. “I cannot consider it a coincidence or a whim that the Good Shepherd, in his newly exalted state, who appears to a very important part of his flock, chooses first to speak of his obedience, his reverence, his fidelity and his loving submission to his Father. In a first and profound moment of enchanting wonder, where he certainly had the attention of every man, woman and child as far as the eye can see, his submission to his father is the first and most important thing he wants us to know about himself. (The Will of the Father in All Things – Jeffrey R. Holland) The word translated “power” means that He was not a helpless victim. He had both the right and the power to become instruments of reconciliation between man and God, and this is the path He took. He put his will into doing so. Jesus saw his whole life as an act of obedience to God: his father had given him a task, and he was willing to dedicate his life to accomplishing it, even if it cost him his life, and that is what happened.
Finally, obedience to God must be voluntary, never forced. In Helaman 14:30–31, we learn of God`s importance to agency. The text reads: Since God names individuals by what they are, then this is what this man is: “King of righteousness.” Each soul who follows him has the choice between the exercise of free will—or free will—and obedience to the laws of nature. And we are all born with a conscience that helps us make that choice. “Why do you call me `Lord, Lord,` and do not do as I say unto you?” – Luke 6:46 “When the Savior appeared to the Nephites, He first spoke of His obedience, reverence, faithfulness, and loving submission to His Father. I am the light and life of the world. I drank from the bitter cup the Father gave me and glorified the Father by taking upon myself the sins of the world. I have suffered from the will of the Father from the beginning in all things. “That`s it.
Just a few lines. Only fifty-two words. “And. When Jesus spoke these words, all the multitude fell to earth. (3 Nephi 11:11, 12). If we want to succeed financially, we must abide by the laws that govern money. This is the law of obedience. Everything in life has certain rules that govern it.
As soon as we violate these laws, we cause ourselves a lot of pain and suffering. If you jump from a building, you will certainly be injured because the law of gravity pulls you to the ground. “It is somewhere in this spirit that lies the key to freedom. We need to stand before Heavenly Father and say individually, “I don`t want to do what I want. I`ll do what you want me to do.` Suddenly, the Lord, like any father, could say, “Well, there is another one of my children who is almost free from constant surveillance.” (Boyd K. (Bonus) Read the Bible: The scriptures are God`s Word and a great source of wisdom and encouragement to know and obey God`s commandments. “There is no power given to man, nor any lawful means of compelling men to obey the will of God against their will, except persuasion and good counsel, but there is a punishment for the disobedience suffered by all who disobey the obvious truths or laws of heaven” (Joseph F. Smith, Gospel Doctrine, 105–6). Justice is obedience to God`s law. Since God made all the laws (James 4:12), He is the supreme ruler or king. It determines what justice is. “All your commandments are righteousness” (Psalm 119:172). When Jesus spoke of one of the points of this law, He placed Himself above it. He is the Lord of the Sabbath (Mark 2:28). No man is Lord or King of God`s law.
Only God could be! All men have sinned and broken this law of righteousness (Romans 3:23). As we see in many religious traditions, people have felt this way from the beginning of recorded history. The biblical Adam, for example, the first human creation, was held accountable for his obedience. 2. Love your neighbor as yourself: If we continue with the teaching of Matthew 22, our next example of obedience is to love your neighbor as yourself. To love our neighbor, our friends, and even our family, we must forgive them for their transgressions against us. As the Lord`s Prayer says, “And forgive us our trespasses, as we forgive those who offend us.” Matthew 6:14 tells us, “For if you forgive others when they sin against you, your heavenly Father will also forgive you.” Because people are imperfect, there will be transgressions against us, so it is important to forgive in order to love our neighbor. Obeying God means putting His commandments above our selfish desires in order to hold grudges against others. Forgive and let go of anger! Obedience also leads to peace and long life, while disobedience leads to feelings of guilt and a shortened life. Proverbs 3:1–2 promises, “My son, do not forget my law; But let your heart keep my commandments: during the length of days, long life and peace, they will add something to you. (Proverbs 3:1-2) The first two forms of Christian obedience given here come from Jesus` teaching on the “greatest commandment of the law” in Matthew 22.
The scriptures teach that Lehi “obeyed the word of the Lord, wherefore he did as the Lord commanded him” (1 Nephi 2:3; emphasis added). The same obedience trait is evident in Nephi`s response to his father`s request to return to Jerusalem and go to Laban`s house for important documents. Nephi said, “I will go and do what the Lord hath commanded, for I know that the Lord does not give commandments unto the children of men, unless He prepares a way for them to do what He has commanded them.” (1 Nephi 3:7.) If you follow the law of obedience and imitate these five character traits, you will build a meaningful life.
