MLS provides assistance in the following civil cases, but not limited to: dissolution of marriage, custody, child support claims, paternity claims, family law matters, guardianship or curatorship, unemployment claims, social security claims, landlord-tenant disputes, and consumer complaints. In addition to these civil cases, MLS assists defendants in court-appointed criminal offenses. MLS also assists children in need of help (CINA) or children accused of delinquent behaviour; Both types of these cases before the juvenile court. MLS partners with Family Resources to provide free representation in obtaining injunctions through a domestic violence support program. In addition, the MLS does not provide financial support to victims in divorce and custody proceedings, provided they are separated from the offender for a period of six months.
